Our Accompanist's Bios

Pinio Dovalis Benetatos




Pinió Dovalis Benetatos holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music in Piano Performance from CSULB and a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from USC and studied primarily with Earle Voorhies and Daniel Pollack.  She has held staff positions in the dance and music departments at CSULB, CSUF, UCLA, California Institute of the Arts, and teaching positions at Orange Coast College and Kids’ College at Cypress College.  Her credits include a New York debut recital at Merkin Hall in 1992, an appearance at the Waikiki Bowl in Honolulu, solo and duo concerto performances with numerous orchestras in Southern California as well as two concert tours of Europe where she had the rare privilege to perform on the great pipe organs at Westminster Abbey, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Italy, and the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. 

 

Benetatos is an active member with Music Teachers Association of California (Orange County West Branch), MTNA, CAPMT, American Guild of Organists, and The National Guild of Piano Teachers.  She holds the position of Music Director/Organist of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach as well as maintaining a busy teaching schedule at her private music studio in Cypress and accompanist to Dr. Sheridan Ball and Meritáge.

 

 

Katheryn Klein 





Katheryn Klein holds a Bachelor’s of Music and Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from USC where she studied with James Bonn and John Perry.  Upon completion of her Master’s Degree, she was honored with the June Davison Piano Pedagogy Award for her work teaching in the USC music program for non-majors.  Klein is currently lead teacher at Amuse Music Center in Palos Verdes, accompanist at Temple B’Nai Tzedek in Fountain Valley, is on staff at Cypress College, and runs an active music studio in Costa Mesa.

Klein has been awarded two First Place prizes in the Joanna Hodges International Piano Conference and Competition and was First Runner Up in the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra section of the same Competition.  She has performed extensively as a concerto soloist, duo-pianist, and collaborative pianist for singers, instrumentalists, and choral groups, including the Southern California Master Chorale and Meritáge. Klein has played all over the world, and in 2010 was privileged to tour Europe with Meritáge and perform in such places of historical significance as The Notre Dame Cathedral and Mont Saint-Michel in France.
